What You Should Wear This Summer

With the warmer months fast approaching, it’s time to start stocking up on stylish summer clothes for your wardrobe. You want to find pieces that are going to look trendy and keep you comfortable throughout the day, no matter what you’re doing. Here are some of the items you should invest in this summer to keep you cool, comfortable, and above all, looking amazing.

Sunglasses

Everyone needs a cute pair of sunglasses for the summer. They’ll be your best friend, whether you’re relaxing on the beach or driving across town to your next business meeting. There are plenty of shapes that are in style right now, but we particularly enjoy mirrored lenses and cat eye shapes to make a big statement.

Striped Top

Classic Breton stripes are going to be everywhere this summer, so invest is a chic, lightweight striped t-shirt or blouse that you can pair with several different bottoms. Bonus points if you go for something off-the-shoulder, which is another huge trend right now. Additionally, if you spend lots of time at the beach or pool, be sure to pick up a striped bikini or one-piece, which looks very classic yet fun.

Lightweight Military Jacket

Even though it’s summer, you’ll still need something to keep you warm on nights when it rains or the temperature drops. Khaki is a big trend for this season, so consider investing in a military jacket that you can throw on with everything. Not only does it give a utilitarian edge to anything you wear, but it also has tons of pockets for extra storage.

Shirtdress

If you need something that can go from work to happy hour in a pinch, invest in a classic blue or white shirtdress. Not only does it keep you looking totally professional when the temperatures start rising, but it’s also flattering on lots of body types and comes in tons of different shapes.

Wide-Leg Pants

It seems that skinny jeans have finally met their match in the chic wide leg pants that we’ve been seeing all over the runway. Whether you opt for a pair of nautical inspired jeans or flowy palazzo pants, wide legs are a great way to look taller and feel comfortable during the summer, as they don’t constrain you while you’re moving through your day. Loose jersey pants also make a great beach cover-up that can transition to the bar afterwards.

Denim Shorts

Although these may not necessarily be a trend item, they are definitely something you need to have in your wardrobe. In particular, look for ones that are slightly baggy with a higher waist – the ‘mom’ look is both comfortable and totally stylish. If edgy’s more your thing, go for a pair that has some chic rips.

Birkenstock Sandals

Casual is definitely the way to go this summer when it comes to your day shoes. Instead of wearing flip flops to the beach or park, try Birks, which are super comfortable and have a quirky vibe when paired with mom jeans or shorts.
